This bookmark is based on the Lovell Minster jewel. It uses two different gold threads, one (a smooth passing) for couching and plaiting and one (a pearl purl) to add decoration. Four different coloured Japanese flat silk (floss) threads. Zweigart 55 count Kingston linen. Stiffened felt for the padding. Gutermann thread for sewing together. The gold plait forms the ribbon and is finished off with a glass bead.

A 5 inch hoop is required.

Some magic-type tape.

Tweezers.

Something to make larger holes in the fabric to pass the gold through (a mellor or something similar)

Goldwork scissors separate to your usual embroidery scissors since these will need to cut gold thread which will blunt them.
