Crewel Heart is a Crewelwork and Goldwork class, perfect for intermediate stitchers, combining classic Crewelwork stitches, introducing shading and some introductory Goldwork. The design was inspired by the gothic ceiling in the Tribune room at Strawberry Hill House in London, former home of Horace Walpole.
During the class we will cover the following stitches:
● Brick Stitch,
● Fly Stitch
● Trellis Stitch
● Van Dyke Stitch
● French Knots
There will also be the opportunity to customise your design by adding in some Chipping or Cutwork in Bright Check Purl.
The design is worked onto a dark blue Irish linen with Appletons Crewel Wool, Gilt Smooth Passing and Bright Check Purl. The kit includes a full skein of each of the 6 shades of wool so that you can continue to explore shading after the class. You will also receive full written instructions, fabric with the printed design, needles, beeswax, metal and couching threads as well as a mini velvet board to help cut metal threads.
List of equipment the students will need.

A mellor and goldwork tweezers will be helpful but are not essential.
A velvet board will be provided in the kit.
You should also look at the EQUIPMENT NEEDED section on the Information page for generally useful items.
