TIMINGS:The class will run in person on Saturday 20th April from 10:00 - 16:00 at Winchester Quaker Meeting House
The biscornu introduces the students to the Danish whitework embroidery technique of Dragværk, an early form of Hedebo embroidery.
At three and a half inches in diameter the biscornu is stitched on evenweave linen fabric using three weights of linen thread.
The stitches used are: running stitch; backstitch/stem stitch; four sided stitch; Dragværk techniques including whipping, sling stitches and needleweaving; picot edge stitch and four sided seam stitch. (Level of stitcher: some knowledge of basic embroidery stitches useful – but not essential.)
All the materials except the lining and filling will be provided. This allows the students to use the type of lining and filling of their choice. Full instructions on how to work and complete the project will be provided.
List of equipment the students will need.
A 5 or 6 inch hoop is required and you should also look at the EQUIPMENT NEEDED section on the Information page for generally useful items.
The cost of the kit will be paid to the tutor on the day and is estimated to be £ 8 .
