TIMINGS: The class will run in person on Saturday 16th July from 10:00 - 16:00
Mountmellick whitework embroidery originated in Mountmellick in Ireland. It is a beautiful textural raised technique, designed to be used and washed over and over again.
This pretty rose kit comprises a 33cm x 33cm square of white cotton satin jean fabric, and the traditional Mountmellick threads in three thicknesses. Several of the traditional stitches will be used: Mountmellick stitch and cable plait stitch, as well as padded satin stitch, closed buttonhole stitch, French knots, split stitch and stem stitch.
The finished embroidery measures 14cm high by 11.5cm wide, and could be made into a cushion or a bag.
The cost of the kit will be paid to the tutor on the day, and is expected to be £28.
