TIMINGS: The class will run in person on Saturday 23rd April from 10:00 - 16:00  

During this class you will create your own abstract embroidery by experimenting with different stitches to create form and texture. Different techniques will be tried out and evaluated for their effect: Appliqué, Padding, Fabric Manipulation, Couching, beads & sequins, Stumpwork stitches and other Surface Stitches.

You can bring along fabrics and threads from your personal stash of materials to create a unique piece of work that reflects your personality and colour combinations. You should also bring a hoop of the appropriate size for the piece of work you wish to create.

Suggested materials are cotton and organza fabrics, a selection of interesting threads with different thicknesses including metallic threads, some different size beads and sequins and other random objects to be sewn down, eg buttons, washers, twigs…. The possibilities are endless!

Sonja can provide a pack of hand dyed fabric and threads in different colour ways which would cost £15.
